The Upper Austrian startup Wholomics has developed a test designed to detect various types of cancer—even in very early stages—from a single blood sample. Some doctors are already offering the test. In the “Krone,” founder Patrick Strasser explains how the test works.

It could be a breakthrough in cancer research: The test is designed to detect tumors in their early stages from a single blood sample. The idea came from two college classmates, Patrick Strasser from Ried im Innkreis and Maximilian Schneider from Unterach am Attersee—both of whom studied biochemistry in Munich—in 2022.
