Student Anna Binder (23) and expert Barbara Sima-Ruml (43) are two hopes for the future of the Styrian Green Party. They are no strangers to hostility. Women in particular need a thick skin in politics.
It was a precision landing: Anna Binder turned 16 on October 15, 2017, the very day a National Council election was held and the Hitzendorf native was allowed to vote for the first time. Back then, the ÖVP triumphed under Sebastian Kurz and the Greens were unexpectedly kicked out of parliament. "That gave me the final push to say: the Greens are needed."
