More than 500 people interested in 100 subsidized doctor positions - this was the jubilant announcement made by the government in January. As it turns out, the jubilation may have been premature. After all, anyone can apply for the 100,000 euro subsidized practices. Two "Krone" editors spontaneously "retrained".

In mid-December, the health insurance fund advertised 100 subsidized practice positions. Interested parties receive a 100,000 euro start-up bonus for the equipment if they run the practice for at least five years. They are mainly looking for doctors for general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, psychiatry, ophthalmology and skin and sexually transmitted diseases.

At the beginning of January, the government announced the "mega-success": there had been a rush for the positions, with 300 interested parties registering within a few weeks. It was announced that further jobs would be advertised. But the success may not have been a success at all.
