An end to fully slatted floors in Styria - this is what the Styrian Greens are calling for with a motion in the state parliament. However, a hasty ban would have devastating consequences for many pig farms. The "Krone" asked around.

Styria is to become the pioneer in phasing out fully slatted floors in Austria - at least if the Greens have their way. The party has already tabled several motions at federal level to improve animal welfare. Now the Styrian state party wants to achieve its own Styrian path, which has fully slatted floors in Styria in its sights.
