The suffering of the parents of the 14-year-old boy who was killed by an IS fanatic in Villach two weeks ago must be immense. Now a man whose beloved daughter of an Austrian woman had to die in January 2023 - also in a terrorist attack - is speaking out in the "Krone" newspaper.

The man, who is now sitting in an office in his dental technology business in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and is connected to the "Krone" by video call, seems strong - and infinitely sad at the same time. There are phases in which he speaks with a strong voice; there are phases in which he weeps bitterly. But there are also phases in which his mouth curls into a melancholy smile.
