How smart cars could catch speeders in the future

An average of around 16,880 speeders were flashed on Austria's roads last year - every day! Networked cars could be used to automatically record and report speeding in the future. A world-famous car manufacturer is taking the plunge.
A total of 6160271 speeding violations were reported in Austria last year or punished as administrative penalties - an increase of 0.6 percent compared to 2022 and thus a new annual high, as the traffic police state in their report.
Around 5.3 million of these infringements were measured by radar devices, a further 580,000 drivers were caught by laser measuring devices and around 270,000 were detected by civil patrols, section control systems or other types of monitoring.
