Around 80 percent of Austrians are infected with human papillomaviruses (HPV) - usually through sexual intercourse. This can lead to a number of extremely unpleasant and even life-threatening diseases. The focus is primarily on women, but it is underestimated that men are also affected.

An infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV) usually goes unnoticed and can cause different diseases depending on the type of virus (more than 200 types are known). The majority of these are harmless, but malignant diseases can also develop - and not just in the genital area. Several studies have shown that HPV infections also occur in men and pose a risk to health and fertility.
