In the test: These pizzas land on the frozen throne!
A pizza fresh from the stone oven - the thought alone makes your mouth water. The traditional Italian dish is one of Austria's favorite foods. But frozen products have also evolved in recent years. Krone+ has tested which frozen pizza from the supermarket is the best.
How often do you eat pizza? Over 91 percent of Austrians treat themselves to a "mafia pie" at least once a month. The Kits Hello Fresh survey does not reveal whether this is fresh or frozen. The fact is that pizza is one of Austrians' favorite foods. However, with an annual per capita consumption of 3.3 kilos, we still bring up the rear in Europe according to Greenpeace. Unsurprisingly, Italy leads the way with 7.8 kilos, but not worldwide - the USA is ahead with an average of 13 (!) kilos. Mamma mia!
Of course, opinions also differ in this country as to which topping should be on a pizza. 40 percent prefer salami, followed by Hawaiian pizza and Margherita. Six percent of pizza lovers still opt for a fiery diavolo.
If you are wondering about Pizza Hawaii in second place, let me tell you something: over 70 percent said that pineapple does not belong on a pizza at all. Tastes are different. We also discovered this in our frozen pizza test. According to a survey by IMAS International, one in four Austrians regularly consumes frozen ready meals, and we have now carried out the big pizza test for you!
