Crime in Vienna is on the rise, but the police force could soon be in an even worse position. The reason is property protection. The "Krone" has learned exciting details from an insider. 

Increasing gang crime, stabbings and more and more weapons and alcohol prohibition zones that have to be enforced - the police have their hands full and need every officer they can get. All the more worrying is the fact that the police are now facing a wave of cuts due to the tight federal budget. The trigger for this is a service directive issued by the presidency in February that flat-rate overtime is to be reduced by 30 percent.
