Donald Trump's withdrawal of friendship from Europe has led to a rethink in the EU. Most countries have realized that they need to move away from dependence on the USA. At present, defense is hardly possible without American support, as expert Franz-Stefan Gady reveals to Krone+.

Franz-Stefan Gady is a policy advisor and analyst at the Institute for International Strategic Studies (IISS) in London. He advises governments and armed forces in Europe and the United States on issues of structural reform, organizational and doctrinal development and the future of warfare. He gave Krone+ an insight into the military situation in Europe, painting a bleak picture.
