Why Viennese hardly ever get tickets for Viennese balls

The fact that Viennese balls are often sold out right from the start of advance sales has become the rule - mainly due to the increasing number of foreign guests. Why there are still not more tickets on offer is explained by the economic interdependencies behind every glittering ball night.

Once upon a time, people wanted to go to a ball, looked at the ball calendar, bought tickets and shortly afterwards spent a glamorous evening of dancing and fun. Nowadays, there's nothing left for the quick decision-makers. Two years ago, it was thought that this was due to "ball hunger" after the Covid lockdowns, but it is now clear that the trend is here to stay.
