Question to Netanyahu and Hamas: Was it necessary?

More than 15 months after Hamas attacked Israel, the Gaza Strip has been completely destroyed. Although the ceasefire has allowed the population to breathe a sigh of relief, the end of the war is still a long way off. Our foreign policy expert Kurt Seinitz is not the only one to ask the question: Was so much suffering, destruction and death really necessary?

These are the miracles of the Middle East: as soon as the ceasefire was announced and the danger was over, the Hamas fighters immediately found their uniforms again and came out of hospitals, schools and kindergartens with their weapons, all fresh-faced and well-fed.
