Budget: now the athletes are going on the offensive

At the end of November, the outcry in the Graz sports scene was loud. Everyone had expected that the budget for the coming year would be cut in times like these. The fact that funding for culture was being increased at the same time caused irritation and incomprehension. And for the fact that a "wave of protest" is rolling through the provincial capital straight into the municipal council.

Sport versus culture - a perennial "contentious issue" in Graz. However, when looking at the budget plans of the city government, which admittedly currently has to deal with a mountain of debt of 1.7 billion euros, it is obvious that one cannot speak of a "duel" here.
