It’s not just the mayor who is the “cock of the walk” here

According to statistics, nowhere else in Styria is the proportion of women as high as in the municipality of Kalwang. The statistical development of Kalwang's male choir is quickly explained: Today, 80 percent of its members are women. Gudrun Adami is the chairwoman of the choir and one of the soprano voices in the traditional singing group, whose roots go back to 1893. "For a very, very long time, the choir was only made up of men. Today there are maybe ten of us left," she says.
