Expert gives tips
Stress can be a burden, but also a motivation!
Stress is a burden for most people and can even make you ill in the long term. But there are ways to cope with it. At a recent lecture in Feldkirch, stress researcher Ulrike Ehlert posed the question: "Stress, so what?"
Already running late and then traffic jams on the Rhine Valley highway? Have the children been dawdling around again in the morning? Is your boss nagging you to get something done even though you have tickets for the theater? All of this causes stress - negative stress. You feel unwell, are irritable and sometimes react aggressively. In the long term, this negative stress makes you ill.
High blood pressure increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Diabetes, elevated liver values, skin rashes, gastrointestinal disorders, burnout and depression are further consequences of constant pressure, hectic pace and far too high expectations in everyday life. However, stress researcher and professor at the University of Zurich, Ulrike Ehlert, doesn't just see stress in a negative light - during her lecture at the Chamber of Labor in Feldkirch as part of the "Knowledge for Life" event series, she even posed the provocative question: "Stress, so what?"
