The threat of flooding to Salzburg’s towns and villages

If as much rain had fallen in Salzburg as last weekend in Lower Austria, many places would have had a massive flooding problem. A map shows the danger zones. But this should have been revised long ago, demands Leonhard Hartinger, Green Party candidate for the National Council.

Apart from Seekirchen, Salzburg got off relatively lightly during the severe flooding a week ago. The cold polar air, which caused the precipitation to fall as snow in large parts of the country, proved to be very helpful. Otherwise there could have been widespread flooding in other parts of the country too.
