Flood of garbage after storms not only in Croatia

Garbage on the coast is not uncommon. Floods not only wash tons of garbage downstream, but also exacerbate other environmental problems, such as algal blooms, also known as "sea snot". The "Krone" knows what is being done about it and whether it also affects Upper Austria.

It happens again and again, not only in Croatia, that the sea washes a lot of garbage onto the coasts, especially after storms. "This is due to the sea currents," says Branimir Tončinić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board in Vienna. "Public beaches are cleaned quickly, of course, but it can take a little longer on other stretches of coast."
