The Liaison Office
The “voice of Carinthia” at the European Union
Did you know that there is a building in Brussels - in the middle of the EU district - from which the Carinthian flag flies? In it: the so-called Carinthian Liaison Office (VBB), including Carinthian employees. But what actually happens there? And who actually works here?
Rue du Commerce 49, 1000 Bruxelles - that's the address of the old beige building where Carinthians come and go every day. Around the corner is the beautiful, green Warande Park with its walking paths, blooming tulips and shady trees. This is where the young VBB employees in particular like to spend their lunch break.
But today we are concentrating on the VBB itself. In a nutshell: this is where Carinthian interests are represented at EU level; the office is the central interface between Carinthia and the headquarters of the European Union. Martina Rattinger and her team are responsible for these matters - born in Klagenfurt, she has been working at the VBB since 1996 and has headed it since 1999.
