“Cheaper and better alternative for the Fernpass”

An 11.4-kilometre-long tube for 500 million euros instead of the Tschirgant and Fernpass summit tunnels. The "Krone" is aware of a proposal from 1999 that offers another option in the discussion surrounding the Fernpass.

Since it became known that the Fernpass summit tunnel including toll was coming, the waves have been rising. The front is growing from day to day, but the state government wants to hold on to it with all its might. Partly, they argue, because there is no alternative to the project. "Or do you have a better proposal?" the critics were asked several times in the last state parliament. "There is an alternative that is better and more cost-effective," says LA Evelyn Achhorner (FPÖ) in the "Krone" interview.
