She was one of Carinthia's first female mayors: Sonya Feinig. The mayor of Feistritz im Rosental has now been in the mayor's seat for 20 years and has no regrets. In an interview with the "Krone" newspaper, the long-term mayor talks about her motivations in politics.

It was former mayor Hubert Gradenegger who approached his head of office Sonya Feinig back in 2003 and asked her whether she would like to be on the SPÖ list for the next municipal elections. "I said yes, but only in fortieth place. But then I got so many preferential votes straight away that I immediately became deputy mayor," says the Rosental mayor in an interview with the "Krone" newspaper. And just one year later, when her predecessor passed away, Feinig was elected to lead her home municipality.
