Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has kept the promise he repeatedly made after the massacre carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023: to "eliminate" the last person responsible for it. The hunt for the Hamas leadership has been on ever since the bloody attack on Israel last October - since then, Prime Minister Netanyahu has tirelessly emphasized that he does not want to rest until the entire leadership is wiped out: "They are all dead men, we will get them all," he said. After the number four was "eliminated" in a "surgical strike" - a drone attack in the south of the Lebanese city of Beirut - at the beginning of January, the number three on the hit list was killed in March. In July, Hamas lost not only its best-known face, Ismail Haniyeh, but also its military chief: Mohammed Deif was considered the "mastermind" behind the massacre. And now the organization's number one has also fallen - the man who had already spent two decades in Israeli custody, where his life had even been saved due to a life-threatening brain tumour: Yahya Sinwar.
