He was chairman of the Vorarlberg People's Party for 25 years and governor for 14 years. The author Robert Schneider talks to Dr. Herbert Sausgruber about the ways and possibilities of the political and ethical functioning of a centrist community in the face of today's challenges.
Robert Schneider: Dr. Sausgruber, in 2020 you published a slim book entitled "Condensed Memories - Foundations of Successful Communities". It reads like a kind of guide to political craftsmanship. Why did you write this book?
Dr. Herbert Sausgruber: Based on 30 years of everyday experience in managing communities, the booklet is intended to give those interested in politics advice on what can and cannot work, where the opportunities and limitations lie and what the foundations for long-term success are. I was less interested in documenting past events or the results of my own actions than in providing suggestions for thinking through viable answers today and tomorrow.
