Woman lying dead outside a mortuary: what happened?

The crime scene is Edling, a small town in Lower Carinthia. A year ago, a 62-year-old resident died here under mysterious circumstances. The woman froze to death helplessly in front of the mortuary on an icy winter's night - after a brutal attack, after an unfortunate fall? The death of the mother of three is still a mystery.

It is February 8, 2023, and a girl makes a terrible discovery on her way to school in Edling: a motionless woman lies in front of the mortuary in the village of 170 inhabitants in the municipality of Eberndorf. All help comes too late for her - Gertrude, 62, wife and mother of three, has suffered severe head injuries and has frozen to death. A homicide is quickly assumed. The woman had been beaten to death and then left to die in the cold winter night. Three suspects from the victim's immediate family are targeted by the investigators. The public prosecutor's office also assumed that the murder case would be solved quickly.
