Fraud scam bypasses the Vienna police

A fraudulent salesman is apparently up to mischief in Vienna at the moment, preferring to sell worthless junk to elderly people at horrendous prices. The police are powerless, because victims find themselves in a legal loophole.

Mrs. P. "immediately thought that something was wrong" and is now "embarrassed" that she and her husband fell for a fraudulent salesman and gave him 1200 euros for cheap imitation leather goods - at first he even wanted 2500 euros. The man apparently likes to choose elderly victims whom he can then convince with hair-raising stories.
