61,000 Syrians in Vienna: who they are and what they do

More Syrians live in Vienna than the population of St. Pölten. And more than in all eight other federal states combined. We took a look at what the statistics say about these people, what they do here and how many are supported with money by the City of Vienna.  

From babies to the elderly: you could populate the entire provincial capital of Lower Austria with the "Viennese" Syrians and it would still be a little too small to accommodate them all. Of the 103,000 Syrian citizens in Austria, almost 61,500 live in Vienna, according to Statistics Austria (as of October 2024). The majority are young and male.
