According to E-Control, Austrians were without electricity for just over 32 minutes last year, leaving them in the dark. So-called power stations can shed light on this. We use the new EcoFlow Delta 3 Plus to explain what to look out for when purchasing one.

Blackout - when Marc Elsberg warned of the dangers of a widespread power outage in his 2012 technology thriller of the same name, it still seemed like distant fiction. Twelve years later, in the midst of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and the resulting accelerated shift away from fossil fuels towards renewable energies, the scenario seems increasingly realistic. However, experts agree that it is by no means just a terrorist attack, as described in the book, but also minor breakdowns or simple grid overloads in the Europe-wide electricity grid that could lead to a domino effect with unforeseeable consequences.

Civil protection organizations have therefore long been appealing to the Austrian population to prepare for an emergency - with food and drinking water supplies, emergency cooking facilities, crank radios, flashlights and the like. Those who can should also make themselves independent of the power grid and provide themselves with a self-sufficient supply of electricity, for example via photovoltaic systems or - fuel-powered - emergency generators. So-called power stations are a better alternative to these often large and expensive devices, as they can also be used by tenants in apartments.
