This is what an increase in property tax would mean

In the negotiations on the Zuckerl coalition, the debates on taxes and the budget are known to be a case for the steering group. An increase in property tax could apparently be agreed. This would practically affect property owners, but also tenants. Politically, however, it would mainly be the mayors who would be affected.

On Tuesday evening, many ÖVP members probably had to listen twice. For the first time since the start of negotiations for the Zuckerl coalition, Chancellor Karl Nehammer no longer ruled out tax increases. Apparently, the property tax, which has not been adjusted to inflation for decades, could possibly be increased. Nehammer expects talks on this "in the relevant working group". However, there are also discussions about this in his own party.
