It's not just rail noise that is a massive burden on the residents of the Carinthian central region. A new study has now also revealed other health risks. The Ministry of Transport still sees no need for action on the railway line, which is likely to reach its limits with the opening of the Koralm Railway.

"Every day, there are minutes-long freight train jams right in the center of Pörtschach," reports a local resident who lives not far from the well-known Monte Carlo Square. "In addition to the railroad noise, there is also the stench and particulate matter." This is because the stops of the vehicles weighing several tons also generate abrasion.
