NATO helicopter of the future: these companies are in the running

NATO and its member states are preparing to replace a large part of their helicopter fleets by 2040. Models such as the NH90 or the UH60 "Black Hawk" will then reach the end of their life cycle. Research is already underway into successors, and some of the ideas are highly futuristic.

Preparations are already underway for a new generation of helicopters for NATO. The military alliance has commissioned three defense companies from the USA and Europe to develop concepts for the NATO helicopter of the future - and not all of them look like a helicopter.
