Gloomy forecast
“Traditional pubs will no longer exist”
Dying restaurants, expensive prices and ski resorts without snow. Tourism, the hotel industry and gastronomy are not having an easy time. Gerold Royda, the new tourism division chairman, and Michael Nell, chairman of the hotel industry, talk about difficult times and opportunities in an interview with the "Krone" newspaper.
"Krone": Tourism, hotels and gastronomy - three sectors that have been experiencing challenging times for years and cannot live without each other. Mr. Royda and Mr. Nell, in which direction are these sectors developing in these difficult times?
Gerold Royda: Our goal is clearly to move towards quality tourism in order to be able to survive on the international market in the long term. This also includes the gastronomic infrastructure. What good is the best hotel if there are no restaurants in town?
