It was a long struggle before Carinthia opted for digital BOS radio. But what makes digital radio so much better than conventional, analog radio? The "Krone" spoke to Stephan Tauschitz, who is not only responsible for the expansion of the new radio system, but also knows the technology behind it. 

For decades, analog radio was the ultimate in communication for emergency services in Carinthia. Whether rescue, fire department or police, when communication took place during operations, it was via the so-called analog radio. This is now slowly entering semi-retirement. In future, communication between emergency services will also become digital. But what is the difference between the two radio systems?
