For "silver surfers"
Emporia ME.6: Smartphone from Austria in the test
The only cell phone manufacturer from Austria is courting customers with a new 300-euro smartphone: following its success with push-button phones for senior citizens, Emporia from Linz is increasingly targeting "silver surfers" who don't want to do without smartphone functions. The new device from the steel city is called ME.6 and has a sharp full HD display and a 50-megapixel camera on board. Krone+ has tested it.
With the ME.6, Emporia wants to offer a smartphone for older people and stand out from the crowd of manufacturers with a device tailored to the target group. Similar products are otherwise only available from the Swedish company Doro. Emporia installs a modern Android 13 operating system on its ME.6, meaning that the smartphone for "silver surfers" runs everything that would also run on an "ordinary" Android phone. Nevertheless, the ME.6 is not a run-of-the-mill smartphone, as the test showed.
