The legend shakes: The Rechberg calls for the 50th time

The Rechberg race attracts 247 racing drivers from 18 nations to Almenland this weekend. The legendary event has changed its face time and again, but continues to captivate the crowds of fans.

Austria was really gripped by motorsport fever towards the end of the sixties. In the slipstream of the opening of the Österreichring (1969), the jubilation and tragedy surrounding Jochen Rindt (1970) and Helmut Marko's legendary Le Mans victory (1971), a legend was born in 1972: the Rechbergrennen, which celebrates its 50th edition this weekend.
