Too brutal? How the MMA association fights for recognition
Some think it's too brutal, too bloody, hardly ethically justifiable. Others see it as a technically demanding high-performance sport which, under the right conditions, can also contribute to the common good. Opinions are divided on the tough martial art of MMA. All the more reason for the local amateur association AUTMMAF to fight for recognition.
When Gerhard and Michael Ettl "blow the whistle" for training, there is punching, kicking and brawling. Sweat flows freely during sparring sessions, and sometimes the fighters get down to business. Afterwards, they high-five, cycle side by side on ergometers, not a bad word is lost. The Graz Champions Gym is a melting pot of different social classes, views and nationalities. Nevertheless, harmony prevails. No ranting, just sport - no ranting, just sport. That's how good MMA can be today ...
