Hot prices for ice cream: this is what a scoop costs this year

For Upper Austrians, a refreshing scoop of ice cream is part and parcel of a sunny day. However, in some places, the hot prices have long since left no one cold.(Bild: Dostal Harald)

The big "Krone" check at the start of spring throughout Upper Austria shows that ice-cold refreshment is not really cheap anywhere. Some people can work up quite a sweat when paying for a scoop of ice cream, especially if they go to the ice cream stand with their children. 

"The price limit has long since been exceeded, but we'll buy it for the kids," says a mother on Linz's main square before holding out the ice cream cone she has just bought to her daughter. To mark the start of spring, the "Krone" asked ice cream sellers all over the province: How much do we have to pay for the cold temptation this year?
