Decline in donations causes hardship for aid organizations

Organizations in Upper Austria have to absorb up to 20 percent less income per year. In this federal state, the savings pencil of the mostly private donors is the thickest, because with the thinner purse, the willingness to donate decreases.

Ten percent more costs, up to 20 percent less income: "We have to set aside one million euros every year in order to be able to balance the books, and for the second year in a row this is not going to work out," says Maria Sauer, Managing Director of Krebshilfe Oberösterreich, who has to release reserves again in order to balance the books. On the other hand, it is striking that the number of requests for financial support is also increasing significantly here.
