“Mom, why did the cancer come to me?”
Leukemia in a child? What does that do to a family? Viennese theater maker Sara Ostertag is a mother herself. She is staging the play "The Broken Circle" at the Kammerspiele in Linz. In it, happiness, high hopes, overwhelming fears and intense grief are played off against each other. It leaves no one cold.
First of all: at the end, director Sara Ostertag takes to the stage and invites the audience to donate: Stem cells, blood, plasma or simply money to the children's cancer charity.
Yes, children also have cancer, are terminally ill, donations can save lives. The audience is already standing there, giving a standing ovation to a production that they didn't really want - but which gets right to the heart of the matter. And that's why you should definitely see it.
