Today, around 250,000 eligible voters in Burgenland elect their 36 representatives to the provincial parliament. Admittedly, only just under four percent of all Austrian voters are Burgenland residents. However, after the turbulence of forming a government and the many internal party conflicts within the ÖVP and SPÖ, this is a test of national sentiment.
