The brutal attack on an 85-year-old senior citizen in Upper Austria makes the differences clear: when it comes to the question of whether the damage will be compensated, it is very often only a matter of small details. And from an insurance point of view, it makes a difference whether it was a robbery, theft or burglary.

Cash and papers stolen, the house so devastated from the second floor to the basement with fire extinguishers that a cleaning crew was kept busy for three days, all the locks had to be changed and a hole in the toilet door had to be repaired. The 85-year-old Marchtrenker woman had to repair the latter herself two days before Christmas because a robber had locked her in the toilet.
