Cookie buyers groan at the price, do-it-yourself bakers too

"There are many a treat in the Christmas bakery. Between the flour and the milk, some people make a huge mess" - this is currently echoing through many kitchens in Upper Austria. And professional bakeries too. Prices for ingredients have risen, even for the finished cookies - the "Krone" did the check and there was a surprise.

Vanilla crescents - they are the undisputed favorites of Upper Austrians on the cookie plate. "Every second person goes for this variety," says Georg Resch, head of Resch&Frisch from Gunskirchen, based on a study, and competes with numerous other bakers and confectioners for customers, who voted gingerbread in second place, followed by shortbread variations.
