Whether for illness, accidents or the "pension gap" - we happily insure ourselves against all kinds of inconveniences. But which policies do we really need? What is the general state of the insurance industry? And what do the top dogs earn? We took a look.

The Austrian Insurance Association (VVO), which represents the interests of all private insurance companies operating in Austria, summarizes the current state of affairs in its latest annual report: Mr. and Mrs. Austrian have 50 million contract policies filed away at home, paying premiums of around 20.3 billion euros for them in 2023 (+4.7 percent).
