“Modern crime” thwarts claims acceptance

Two instruments were stolen from the car of a woman from Lower Austria in the parking lot of a supermarket. The insurance company rejected the claim. With a special reason. The ombudswoman took a closer look at the case and investigated why the claim was rejected.

Petra S. and her daughter play the clarinet in a band. After a performance, they cleaned their instruments, packed them up and stored them in the trunk of their car. Then they went shopping. Two days later, before the next performance, the valuable pieces had disappeared along with all the utensils such as music stands etc.
