Back to former glory with the sons of heroes
In addition to a compact team, Romania is relying on two sons of legends at the EURO: Ianis Hagi, Edward Iordanescu and Co. are expected to secure a place in the round of 16 against Belgium. And that would also bring back memories of glorious times gone by.
They finished the qualifiers for the European Championship unbeaten and started the tournament with a 3:0 victory over Ukraine. It is almost logical that the expectations of an entire nation are correspondingly high for the EURO in Germany.
Thanks to an irrepressible team spirit, a high level of tactical discipline and a stable defense that only conceded one goal every two games, Romania returned to Europe's biggest soccer stage for the sixth time. But there have also been times when the Romanian national team was one of the secret favorites at major events.
