Home ownership no longer affordable, renting increasingly expensive

For many Styrians, the interest rate situation and inflation are putting paid to the dream of owning their own home. Instead, they are staying in rented apartments, which in turn are becoming increasingly difficult to afford due to high ancillary costs. What could bring relief? Probably only political concessions - the Graz city government is leading the way.

Tenants have been crying out for help for years and it's not getting any quieter: Housing is becoming unaffordable. Fewer and fewer Styrian families are able to realize their dream of owning their own home; instead, they have to rely on the rental market. And as demand rises, so do the prices per square meter.
