The end of "It's okay"?
Tipping: Why “That’s okay” is slowly dying out
Tipping in restaurants, bakeries, cabs and delivery services: because more and more people are paying by card, behavior is changing when it comes to generously adding money to the bill. Not always for the better. In some cases, customers find themselves in a forced situation and restaurateurs are currently fearing for their turnover. Sometimes there is even a push to charge up to 25% more.
How much and where do you tip? The crucial question comes at the latest during the payment process. Some round up, others give between five and 20 percent. Too much, too little? It's not easy to find the right amount if you don't want to look like a cheapskate or a show-off. But more and more landlords are taking the decision away from the guest, sometimes with cheeky guidelines, as current examples show.
