Crime at schools has risen sharply

The number of crimes in classrooms and educational institutions increased by 76% in Upper Austria following the coronavirus pandemic. The police recorded thefts in particular, but also assaults. The "Krone" has details on crime in our schools.

Crime scene classroom: 875 crimes were committed in Upper Austria's schools and educational institutions last year. Two years earlier, in 2021, which was still partly affected by coronavirus-related school closures, there were 497. The number of offenses thus rose by three quarters overall (see chart).
