How Tiroler takes its customers to Everest
The Mount Everest season has begun in the Himalayas and demand for the adventure of a lifetime is higher than ever. At the forefront is a Tyrolean who will be taking dozens of clients to the highest mountain in the world this year. The 47-year-old knows what's important this year.
A few years ago, Tyrolean Lukas Furtenbach caused a stir around the world with his Everest Blitz expeditions, during which his clients acclimatize to the thin air at home in a hypoxia tent while reading, watching TV or sleeping, thus saving themselves the arduous and often weeks-long acclimatization on site. Furtenbach has been criticized for this by eight-thousander legends such as Reinhold Messner.
Today, Furtenbach Aventures is one of the most successful expedition operators in the world. "We are the only western provider in the Everest business that is growing," says the Tyrolean, who was accompanied by the "Bergkrone" on a spring ski tour in the Axamer Lizum. "This year, we have 40 customers from 15 nations who we will take to the highest mountain on our planet."
