What is a pedestrian allowed to do if he wants to stop a speeding motorcyclist?
It was a huge upset: a 74-year-old pensioner tried to stop a speeding motorcyclist in Hofkirchen im Traunkreis in Upper Austria, but was hit and injured by the biker. The "Krone" asked a lawyer: Are pedestrians even allowed to "stop" speeders on their own authority?
1,100 readers commented on krone.at on our report about the "shitstorm" that Josef Untermair (74) from Hofkirchen an der Traun was subjected to after he offered a bonus of 3,000 euros to a biker.
The motorcyclist had brushed against the pensioner when he tried to get him to slow down by waving. The biker committed a hit-and-run, but the posters mainly criticized Untermair's behaviour.
What is allowed?
