How winter tourism survives despite a lack of snow

One tourism record follows another - the past winter season was generally a good one. And yet: many regions are suffering from a lack of snow and ever shorter ski seasons. What can hoteliers do to combat the decline in guests in winter? The "Krone" asked the tourism expert.

The number of overnight stays is once again close to the record years before coronavirus (see chart) and amounted to over 150,000 in 2023. Capacity utilization was also good for cable car operators. "However, good cable car figures do not translate into good figures for the hotel industry in all regions," emphasizes economic consultant Lukas Prodinger.
