Divorce: Don’t make these common mistakes
What are the common mistakes that men and women make time and again during their divorce? What should you avoid at all costs if you want to come out of the whole separation thing in good shape and what behavior can put you at a disadvantage in the divorce proceedings? We asked divorce expert Maria Christina Kolar-Syrmas!
First things first: Lawyer Maria Christina Kolar-Syrmas does not believe in a hasty divorce. "I strongly advise against instructing a lawyer immediately after an argument with a spouse that does not shake the foundations of the relationship, with a letter announcing a divorce in the event that the spouse does not change their unmarried behavior."
Firstly, lawyers are not "parenting assistants" - even if such letters sometimes help, at least in the short term, as Kolar-Syrmas knows. "But you never know how the other person will react. And an old lawyer's adage is: only ask a witness what you already know the answer to."
